ACCA Eligibility Criteria in India: Who Can Apply After 12th, Graduation or CA?
Check ACCA entry requirements for students after 12th, graduates and working professionals, plus the documents and next steps.
One of the first questions about the ACCA course is whether you meet the entry requirements. The good news is that ACCA offers several routes depending on your education and experience.
Entry routes at a glance
- After 12th: students who meet ACCA's minimum requirements for school-level qualifications may be able to start at the beginning of the qualification. Requirements generally include specified marks and subjects such as English and mathematics, so confirm current criteria with ACCA .
- After graduation: graduates in relevant fields may qualify for direct entry and sometimes for exemptions from certain papers.
- For working professionals: candidates with relevant experience may be considered under ACCA's routes for mature entrants .
- Other qualifications: members of other accountancy bodies can often apply for exemptions.
Does your stream matter?
Commerce students find the early papers easier, but ACCA is open to students from other streams who meet the entry criteria. Non-commerce students may need extra time on accounting basics.
Documents you may need
- Academic mark sheets and certificates
- Identity proof and passport-size photographs
- Proof of graduation, if claiming exemptions
- Fees as per ACCA's published schedule
Do you need to register before starting coaching?
Usually you register with ACCA first to confirm your entry level and then enrol for exams. A coaching provider can guide you through registration and exemption applications.
Common questions
- Can I do ACCA with a B.Com degree? Yes, and you may be eligible for exemptions.
- Can I do ACCA alongside college? Many students do, especially in the early papers.
- Is there an age limit? ACCA does not set an upper age limit in general .
Time limits
ACCA sets a maximum period within which you must complete the exams after passing your first paper. Plan your schedule accordingly.
Start with a clear plan
Before enrolling, map your qualification, compute possible exemptions and set a realistic timeline. The right plan can save months of study and some exam fees.
